Can't see a complaint in my post, even by reading between the lines. Besides, the CM-500 plays as a CM-64, not an MT-32 -- hence the unavoidable havoc with KQ4 (also explains the DOSBox mess). I tried Mode A and disabled the GS part, it didn't make a difference either. But then again, I'm not complaining. I enjoy the soundtrack and am certainly grateful for the mids Smiley

Many thanks Zemus for the manual, this is a great scan.

I wonder if it's because kbMediaPlayer sends a GS reset and it nullifies the effect of the channel mute SysEx?

Oh man, don't you just HATE IT when some moron resurrects a 2-year old thread?

There's a reason, though. I've no idea if the original posters are still interested, but some other people might be. I have the complete KQ4 MT-32 soundtrack in digital version (MP3 VBR). Although it's true that most themes last between 10 and 20 seconds, I find it interesting nevertheless and of course we can not forget it's the game that started it all. So if anyone is interested, let me know and I'll find a way to upload it somewhere. It lasts a little more than 31 minutes and is a total 44 MB download.

No, I don't hate it when someone ressurects a thread.

If they've got an answer to a question/or constructive thoughts, why shouldn't they post it??

Would love to hear it ... my KQ4 items are quite limited, and some of it is DOSBox capture using the emulated SB.  If you've got the MT32 recordings, my ears are ready. Cheesy

Sorry for the delay, I was out of my home for a couple of days (It IS Christmas, you know?).

Anyway, the soundtrack is uploaded. Enjoy.

Great, but there's something missing - when Roberta says "Thanks for playing King's Quest IV, ' The Perils of Rosella.'

Next time... be more careful!"

In the meanwhile, here are some late Christmas gifts from me:

Just wanted to say, if you want the files from KQ4, I have all the MIDI's.

Actually, the death theme is included at the end of the Alternate Ending. So... next time... be more careful!  Tongue

I really suck when it comes to MIDI files, my knowledge is pretty basic, that's one of the reasons I'm trying to record as many soundtracks  as possible in digital format, but thanks anyway!

Heh. Reminds me of me back in the old days.

Trust me man, you'll need to get used to it sooner or later.

There is only one KQ track left that needs to be redone - the ORIGINAL intro for original KQ1.

What you mean by "original KQ1"? Surely not the AGI version, right? If you mean the 1990 SCI remake version, I also have the complete soundtrack. If you want me to, I can upload it, either complete or just the Intro.

I'm currently working on getting the complete KQ1 digital soundtrack page posted; both Ken Allen's original version and the AGDI version.  I should have it posted soon.  I've been meaning to get at it for a while, but kept forgetting about it...  Embarrassed

The AGI version doesn't support MIDI, so what are you asking for exactly?

The "original" intro for the "original" KQ1 release in 1984 was just a nine-note fanfare. The 1987 IBM AGI release used a slow three-voice (for Tandy PSG) arrangement of "Greensleeves". The 198? AppleII GS AGI release used a unique composition by Al Lowe. I can post all these as as MIDI files if desired.
