I believe this is a rackmount version of the SC88. Can it be used for GS/GM games in lieu of an SCC-1?

As far as I know, the M-GS64 is a rack-mount version of the Roland SC-88, so it should work just as well as a SC-88. It's more or less the same as the SC-88 Pro and the SC-880 (rack version of SC-88 Pro).

I would assume so, just set your SC-88 to SC-55 mode to play GM games like Sierra's of course.
