Thanks to shad0wfax (David), there's now a POLICE QUEST 1 - IN PURSUIT OF THE DEATH ANGEL digital soundtrack available for download, as arranged and performed on the Roland Fantom XR.  David's arranged the soundtrack with a 'retro' feel to help capture more of a rock sound, as well as various other enhancements.  He's done an excellent job!   The XR really brings the music to life, too.  I really enjoyed hearing this again.

I've also included a second (SC-8820/MT-32) version of The Death Of Jessie Bains, which I did a while ago, but never finished it.  It's just been sitting on my hard drive for years, so I thought I might as well upload it, too.

(By the way, shad0wfax has also updated the "STOPPING THE WEDDING" theme from the KQ6 digital XR soundtrack.)

Alright! The reworked "Stopping the Wedding" theme sounds fantastic now! The french horns and trumpets sound awesome! very powerful track!

Can't wait to hear PQ1.  Cheesy

Edit:
Been listening to the first few tracks from the soundtrack and I gotta say I really like what you've done, Shad0wfax! The heavy distortion in various themes really picks this soundtrack up. Great work!

Wow, I didn't know he re-did Stopping the Wedding. It really does sound even more fantastic now!

And so far I'm loving the PQ1 soundtrack! Excellent work! The sound is just right Smiley.

Thanks a lot for your comments! As Tom has pointed out, this time I had a special interest in trying to make the soundtrack quite "retro-sounding" (i.e., like rock music of a couple of dedades ago). For that reason I've made use of instruments like analog strings (saw-wave polysynths), leslied hammonds, rhodes-like EPs, and, of course, lots of electric guitars.

This soundtrack (also the original one) makes a quite heavy use of electric guitars, in different flavours. Thanks heaven that the Fantom has excellent (IMO) COSM modelling effects (mostly to emulate the sound of real guitar amplifiers and speakers), so I've been able to play around with COSM settings. In fact, there are only a couple of guitars from my Fantom. The different guitar sounds are produced mostly by tweaking effect settings (COSM guitar amplifier simlulator).

I've listened to it a few times since Tom posted it, and there are several tracks that really stand out, and some that sound a little less than perfect. I'll make a more detailed post after I listen to it some more. Overall, I think it's your best work yet, and I didn't even like this soundtrack in particular before your work on it.

I think it's pretty good - definately sounds like an 80s cop movie.  Smiley

Just wanted to let folks know that Jay Grant has created a POLICE QUEST 1 CD cover to go with the digital soundtrack, that's now available for download:
