I just installed and played through a bit of
Police Quest III on one of my older PC's, in preparation for recording and/or extracting the MIDI in order to create an enhanced digital soundtrack. Surprisingly, PQ3 running on this Win98SE PII computer, with both a Sound Blaster AWE32 (DAC) and MPU-IPC/MT-32 (MIDI) loaded right up with support for both -- without any fussing on my part. That's not usually the case, so I was a bit shocked.

Anyway, I was wondering if anybody knows of any benefits for Sound Blaster DAC support in PQ3. I've heard a couple of digital 'beeps' for the on-screen scene clock, maybe a door slam, but I'm wondering if there's any music-related DAC benefits used in the game. I never played the game with both MT-32 and SoundBlaster support; most Sierra titles that support the MT-32 do a good job with MIDI sound effects, so I never bothered with DAC unless there was talking...or digital music.
