Wow, this site sure brings back some memories for me. I still own my SCC-1 that I used more than a decade ago to play these soundtracks (although I no longer own a PC with which to use it). I outgrew the games, but for whatever reason the music still appeals to me. Thanks to everyone who has worked to create this site.
Besides praise, I also have a request. I've seen the King's Quest 4 finale posted here, but what I'd really like to have is the intro. I realize they're similar, but the intro sequence has some very nice parts to it that the finale doesn't. Also, the finale from the Sierra Lounge recording seems to be missing the tympani. I dunno about you, but I like the sound of the MT-32-generated tympani (maybe for sentimental reasons). It's a full, solid sound, and KQ4 is bare without it.

What exactly do you need, the MIDI MT-32 files, or a digital recording? I can send you the MIDI files for the introduction (or the whole game, if you prefer).

I have an OGG file of the intro, but since the quality's not great, I'll let Ari take care of it.

If you're going to make one, make it available to all. i'd be interested to hear it as well. The only KQIV opening i have is the Dosbox capture with the Soundblaster option.

OK, I suppose I could post it. But it will have to be tommorrow. Does Queststudios not have an MT-32 recording of KQ4 intro? That seems strange...

It's VERY long, and in the past, Tom probably didn't want to host a 15 MB MP3.

- Alistair True it is pretty long, almost ten minutes right? Only problem is that my MT-32 kind of clipped during the intro (DOH!!), so I might have to record it again. (Though, it's a very faint clip, only a "click" sound and it never happens again)

I can record and post it later today. I've never really thought about it being that much different than the game's finale, and never bothered with it. When I get home from the dentist today, I'll get at it. Should have it available by this evening.

If you plan on recording it from the MIDI file, better check and see if the timpany's volume isn't accidently set to 1 or something like that...

Ended up with four stiches at the dentist this morning! A rough extraction that took 90-minutes. But anyway, I survived and managed to record the KQ4 Intro. You can find it at: http://66.49.226.244/digital/KingsQuest/kq4_1.ogg
