$50 Buy-It-Now (the card's description matches that of the SCB-55).  Who will claim it?

Poop... it doesn't look like one in that pic, though... the chips are on the same side as the connector. Sad

this is apparently what the board is... WTF is it? http://www.pcresource.co.th/html/product/tahorn%20midi%20keyboard/images/db4mb/db4m_3_800.jpg

Edit: It looks a lot like the same board as the Turtle Beach Cancun...

Does anyone have any info on this? It all seems to be pretty hazy. I'd like to be able to cancel this if anything he said is inaccurate Smiley Hell, he lifted the pictures from a thai site, too... who knows if he really has this thing, anyway?

Crap... if that's an accurate picture that he's displaying, that's probably not even a 4mb model.

Crap, he fooled me.  Thank god I already have one or otherwise I might have wasted my money.  The second picture clearly looks like a box with the words "Sound Canvas" and maybe Edirol.  But on review this is not an SCB-55 and the pictures are too suspiciously small.  The Dream board is a good board and it came attached to the Diamond Monster Sound MX200 (which I once possessed.)  The SCB-55, however, is true Roland product.

If it's not an SCB-55, can't it be reported?

Yeah, it says "Multipack" AND daughterboard in there. I googled around for "Multipack" and found this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0001AFHWU

That sure is the box that he has in the photo-- Virtual Sound Canvas. That picture of the board mounted on a soundcard is lifted from a thai site (they have a larger version). Who knows what I'm getting? It's been a while since I've been burned on ebay... I guess it's about time Wink

If you search Google Images for "sound canvas DB", the first resulting picture is the one he used. Likely just a mistake on his part.

I reported a guy who sold me a Yamaha reciever that was "new in box"... well... it was in a box... and it was a demo unit so, technically, it hadn't been sold, but a capacitor had actually exploded in the unit and had thrown debris all over the inside of the unit; needless to say, it didn't work. I reported that guy, sent pictures, a copy of the auction, and an explanation of the situation to both ebay and paypal, and they decided that there was no reason to take action. I'm sure that a mis-labeled midi daughter card, that will end up costing me 1/5 the cost of that reciever, will not even cause them to click more than 'delete' when the complaint arrives.

Yeah, I did a buy it now and paid immediately that night. Heh... I was feeling a bit impulsive... I sent him an email that night saying that the desciption sounded like a SCB 55, the (stock) pphoto he used was of a Dream card, and the box was from the soft synth... I wasn't backing out, but i was hoping that he could tell me what, exactly, I was buying. I accept responsibility for my own silly decisions on ebay, but I was hoping he could clue me in.

An SCB 55 would have added some nice SC to my heavily XG collection o' gear Smiley

I've got a Dream card as well as a genuine SCB-55. The Dream card is pretty good, IMO, sometimes better than the SCB, especially in the polyphony department. It has 64 note polyphony compared to the SCB-55's 28. Some of the instruments even sound a little better, but it lacks the MT-32 bank and the CM-64/32P bank.

It's a good buy, if it's the same as mine, and worth 50$ IMO, but it's no SCB-55.

That's reassuring (if I ever get it, that is), but there are different dream cards. 4MB, 2MB, and I THINK a 512K... The 4mb has been reviewed well, the smaller samples not so much.
