I believe there is a single short MT-32 command that can reset all parameters.  However, if a game or a program writes custom sounds to the module, will the reset command also restore the default sounds?  Can someone put this command in a midi file instead of a sysex file please?

When the reset.syx is sent (embedded in this MIDI file), the MT-32 should revert to it's default patch map and the patch memory area empties.

In short, sending that file is just like I turned the unit off and on again.  It is very convenient using an LAPC-I virtually exclusively as I do these days and not having to turn the computer off and on again just so I can play two games that write custom sounds to the device properly.
