Hello all,
A few months ago I discovered DOSbox via the QuestStudios web site, which finally made me able to start playing my old Sierra games again Cheesy. The only thing I could not get to work was my MT-32. Pity, as I wanted the games to sound like they used to in the past.
Last week I checked back with Queststudios and read something about USB midi adapters. So I decided to check the internet and found the M-Audio UNO usb midi adapter. I ordered one yesterday and it already arrived today Cheesy!
I tried it out right away. It didn't work right away with DOSbox, but after some figuring out it finally did work.
How nice to hear the original Sierra music in the games again, the way it is supposed to sound!
Now I still have to try to get rid of the buffer overflow errors that happen when starting some of the games. I read that this should be possible by lowering the CPU cycles in DOSbox but I still have to try this.

I tried lowering the CPU cycles to something silly like 500 to stop buffer overflows, and it didn't work  Sad

Well, hopefully my CM-32L arrives soon so that'll be sorted.

You could FIRST transmit the patch bank externally, for those games that are giving you trouble; a buffer overflow then from within the game won't affect what was already transmitted.  Or, use MoSlo, if DOSBox won't slow it down enough.

The solutions which Tom have pointed out are fine, although if you want to get rid of this problem for once at all and with no more headaches you've got to get a rev. 2 MT-32/MT-100/CM-32L/CM-32LN/CM-64/CM-500 module (don't know if the LAPC-I has got this problem, but if you say that you're using DosBox your PC probably doesn't have ISA slots).
