Nice graphics. To tell the truth, I never played the original game. Shame on me, I know...

Funny, it works now.  It did not when I first checked the link.  Maybe the person exceeded bandwidth for the day or week?

I was never able to complete the game on the NES.  Even if I did everything right, it was always too late to save Dave's girl.

Maybe this time.

For this remake I consider it an insult to AGDI (Formerly Tierra Entertainment), go to the room with the 2 large speakers there is a sign that says "Tierra Sucks!"

Originally in the game it would say "Disco Sucks"

EDIT: I just found out that it randomly switches between "Disco Sucks!" to "Tierra Sucks", next time it comes up I'll take a screenshot.

EDIT2:

Probably a disgruntled former programmer/employee of Tierra is responsible for that?

The creator of this deluxe remake, LucasFan, is against Tierra and their remakes for some reason. He maintains that Tierra games aren't that great and that they primarily use graphics and sprites ripped from Sierra games. This guy created quite a stir in the Tierra forums by posting screenshots that condemm their work. I never got to see the screenshots , since they have been removed, but the forum moderator claims that they contain somewhat offensive materials. LucasFan has since been banned from the forum.

Nevermind that his supposed VGA remake of Maniac Mansion looks like it is still in EGA.

Not really, the one above certainly has more than 16 colors. maybe not 256, but definitely more than 16.

You know its funny, he did the same thing, basically he ripped the background and sprites from Maniac Mansion and enhanced the colors a bit thats all. The pictures on the wall remain the same from the original versions.

That's pretty much what I was saying.  And, the character sprites don't look like they were updated at all.

I don't think he's denying the use of ripped graphics. I believe part of LucasFan's reason for releasing this remake is to show people how 'easy' it is to use the original backgrounds from other games and replace it with a vga overlay. He went as far as releasing a KQ3VGA demo to prove his point. He even posted a step by step instruction , complete with screenshots on the Tierra forum, but he was banned and his shots removed because he had included a 'breast' icon in them. Obviously, this guy is jealous of Tierra's success.

Hello folks!

1. This was a team project not a one-man show.
2. We ripped the original backgrounds from MM but we didn’t replace them by 256-colour graphics of other games (like Tierra does). All of your graphic improvements were done by yourselves.

And, the character sprites don't look like they were updated at all.

In the original MM the characters had 4 frames per view – in MMD usually 9. Furthermore all characters got a colour update.

Interesting theory. Actually we made this game because it was a lot of fun.   Cheesy

Heh, yeah it’s true that MMD broke all download records (it got more downloads during a week than KQ2+ after a whole year) but that’s definitely not the reason why we did this remake.

Just to clarify, "Tierra" changed their name nearly a year ago to, "AGD Interactive."  AGD Interactive and Quest Studios updated their websites at that time to reflect the change.
