Remember the "Why to watch eBay like a hawk" thread?

Did anyone notice this a few days ago? http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLAND-SOUND-CANVAS-SC-55-VGC-LOW-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ150104713786QQcategoryZ41784QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

SC-55 module offered on "Buy it now" for $50!  It looks like the whole auction only last 12 hours. And I'd been looking around that period, but missed that particular auction.

Anybody here the lucky winner? Alistair?

Now if only I could browse eBay on my cell-phone...  Grin

Just quickly..

I don't know if I gave the impression that I was rich, or whatever, but I don't have any money that's not savings, and it's been that way since Xmas, or whenever I got my new mixer. Sure, I may buy a 10 dollar game, but I can't sell/trade sound modules for a while. Would like to though.

50's not bad. I think there's lots of SC-55's that go cheap though. I think you can get one for under a 100 US very easily these days. Which to me isn't a great deal of cash, getting a MT-32/SC-55 for 150 together plus shipping.

Hey Alistair,

I didn't mean to imply that you were rich (AND a spendthrift!) - only mentioned you because I thought you were the one who wrote the original "watch like a hawk" post, and I wanted to show just how right you were that it's important to be on the look-out. Sorry if I caused offense.

I thought $50 was an amazing price, since recently the SC-55 has been going for over $150, sometimes closer to $200, here on US eBay. So I wonder if the buyer was just buying it to re-sell...

Sounds like you got a good deal on your MT-32/SC-55 combo - congrats!

Unfortunately, I purchased my MT-32 and SC-55 a long time ago (well, early 2000's)- and paid through the nose for them. My SC-55mkII I got for cheap though (90 bucks I think).

No offence caused, I was just saying, I don't have the money to do it Wink

I don't watch eBay like a hawk so much anymore, for modules anyway. I mainly look for Sierra games, am very happy with my current music setup (well, I'd love an 5080 or Fantom, but obviously can't afford those).

50 is a good price. But over 120 for a SC-55 is in my mind a very bad price, and not something you can compare to and say 'a bargain'! (For example, I wouldn't consider 100-110 a bargain for a SC-55, even though it's not 150+). But yeah, 50 bucks is very good.

Best was when I sold my old SC-55 on Australian eBay, for 250 bucks (200 US).

Yeah I like to collect old games, I think there was a thread a while back about the virtues (or lack) of having the full box, manual etc... even warranty cards!

Unfortunately most of my collection is back home in Sydney, while I'm here in New York. One day I will get my hands on those old games again!!

Interesting! I'm from Adelaide, and will be moving to Oklahoma in the next couple years. Cheesy

I have the same dilemma- my wife sent some of my collection with her (she just went to OK for her sis's wedding).

Will prolly have to leave some behind for a while Sad
