If you already own an SC-88 (I'm jealous!) then you don't need a "regular Sound Canvas" - you have one as soon as you push the SC-55 button on the front panel.

Boom.  100% original Sound Canvas at the touch of a button..... though I don't know why you'd want to.

Cause i read that SC-55 map on SC-88 is not 100% lik a real SC55. (or was it only not 100% with a mkII?)
Well, i'll find out soon... i've bought the unit.

Took me a long time time find one that i could fit into my budget but i was very lucky to find this one.
Cheap and almost seems like new and have some budget left over to buy a real SC-55 too.

Seriously - you don't need it!  The button on the SC-88 turns it into an SC-55.  Period.  If it's not 100% then it's 99 44/100% pure.

For the VERY FEW times I had to use it because of some specific SC-55 GS instrument calls, it never failed me.  It also sounds 100% equal to the SC-55 in all my tests.

You'll enjoy games in SC-88 mode infinitely more than SC-55 mode anyways.  Wink

Hmmm,... listening to both units at the same time.
I do not have trained ears but i tend to say that the SC-88 sounds sometimes clearer then the SC-55.
Can someone confirm?

The SC-55 has a 16-bit DAC, and the SC-88 an 18-bit DAC. This may account for the difference.

If you're at all interested in the parameter differences between the SC-55 and SC-88, this discussion ought to help:

Thanx for pointing out the difference.

I've listend to the recordings on the topic and i hear stereo effect.
So downloaded the ABSENCE midi file but it sounds all mono here on the sc55 and the sc88.
How strange ... where's that manual ...

Well, now listening on the midi file on this topic.
Midi files are probably made for a mkII? Specialy synt brass2 sounds more smooth on a sc55.

[edit]
When i'm switched to sc88 native mode syth brass2 is more smooth again.
So moste likely made for mkII?
