Heh, I thought I at least had a SB 1.5 back in the day-- nope! It was a SB 2.0-- I added the CMS chips myself. I wish I still had it for the nostalgic value, but back then, it was actually worthwhile to sell PC parts!

I have GOT to find me a SB 1.0 or 1.5.... I think I have a 1.5 or 2.0 but the sockets for gameblaster and the extra chip are all empty. CMS chips are easy to find, but not the "controller"... so I'll have to keep hunting. I HAD a SB1.0 when it first came out... it was codenamed the "killer card".... I returned it to the shop because I didn't think it was better than my AdLib. CMS sounded dumb then.... Dummy...

That is why i got myself an 1.5 because you are more likely to get heaven on your head than to find a controller chip for the sb 2.0

Cool beans - but I'm 99% sure it had three empty sockets. I'll dig it out and check anyway.

I always thought the idea of finding these "CMS chips" was like searching for the holy grail... wow, I'm going to have to get a pair of these! *pulls SB 1.5 out of the closet*

Have you tried browsing your old PC magazines from the year Sound Blaster 1.0 apeared? If you don't have them you could try go to the library. There might be a review or an advertisement with a picture.

Some time ago I got one Other than the DSP chip, are any of the other chips socketed on that card? The FM chips look like they may be socketed, but its hard to tell.

Great Hierophant i have sent you an email through vogons forum. Cloudschatze does sb1.5 drivers work with your sb1.5 dsp v.2.00? by the way this document http://home.icequake.net/~nemesis/src/libopl/README.SBsays: "Notes on errata: Some SB 1.0/1.5 clones erroneously return a DSP revision of 2.00." I wonder what this clones are. Sb compatibles or original sbs. Cause that could mean that your dsp version is not 2.00

My card's DSP is v2.00, it says so right on the chip, and I have seen other 1.5s with the 2.00 DSP. The DSP 2.00 was an upgrade designed to allow the Sound Blaster to work better with Windows 3.x.

no, no, no... This is Sound Blaster 1.5 (CT-1320A) We are looking for a picture of Sound Blaster 1.0 (CT-1310) I think it isn't fair to call CT-1320A, the Sound Blaster 1.5 CT-1320A is just the card found in early batch of Sound Blaster Box printed "24 voices sound card" (I think they try to beat Adlib during that time by purposely market this '24 voices' thing, but they didn't mention the catch ... you can't use all 24 voices at the same time!!!) in front of the box (I prefer to classify it as SB 1.0 because every IC chip is soldered on board, except the DSP chip), bundled with C/MS Intelligent Organ, Talking Parrot, etc. CT-1320B or CT-1320C with empty CMS socket found in later batch of Sound Blaster Box printed "All in one sound card" in front of the box, (This is the well known SB 1.5) bundled with FM Intelligent Organ, Talking Parrot, Dr Sbaitso, Voxkit, etc. Of course there could be some product during the transitional period from the SB 1.0 to SB 1.5 ... which CT-1320A bundled with FM Intelligent Organ. (SB 1.0 card + SB 1.5 software, I owned a boxed version with this combination) Not sure if there exist a combination of (SB 1.5 card + SB 1.0 software) Haven't seen any CT-1310 yet... photoshop doesn't count... Cloud... Robertmo, I can host the SB 1.0 software for you so that those who wish to try it can just click on the link. Make life easier for everybody. PC [update] P/S : Thanks to Mr. Robertmo for providing the disk. Sound Blaster 1.0 Disks

The Sound Blaster 1.0 Disks only include the C/MS Intelligent Organ, Talking Parrot and Voxkit software. The Sound Blaster 1.5 disks come with Talking Parrot, Voxkit, Dr. Sbaitso, Sbtalker, Playcmf and FM Intelligent Organ.
More importantly, the Sound Blaster 1.0 disks contain a version of CMSDRV.COM that is compatible with most of the utilities on the C/MS and Game Blaster disks. The C/MS Intelligent Organ on the Sound Blaster 1.0 disks should be able to play all the Organ tunes on the C/MS and Game Blaster disks without needing a Game Blaster. The days of needing a Game Blaster are seriously numbered.

Patrick Chang could you please check the DSP version of your CT-1320A card? As people posted in this thread versoins of ct-1320B and C only.
You can check it with test-sbc.exe that is included in these drivers. (you don't have to install them).
Great Hierophant: do sb1.0 or sb1.5 drivers add any lines to autoexec.bat or config.sys?

...you can't use all 24 voices at the same time Why might this be? I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't all be simultaneously usable.
