Tom, question: Not sure if you know, but will the remake remove some of the 'day' quests? Like, on day X you have to do something, or else you lose (eg ask some people about something- who'd know to do it?). That sucked badly about the original QFG2, and I was wondering if they fixed that, or 'kept the original exactly, just remade' and added the little things like mini-games.
No, I'm afraid the "fixed schedule"-structure of the original QFG2 still remained intact. Some people like the fixed structure because they felt it gave the game a sense of urgency, others didn't like it because they felt they didn't get the time to solve the puzzles or raise their stats at their own pace. Changing the day-structure of the game wouldn't have been a simple quick change though...it'd be about very radically changing the core mechanics of the game. We eventually decided not to go there.
The situations you're talking about are the elementals attacking the city. Yes, once one appears, you have 2 game days (3 in one case) to defeat it before it destroys the city. That said, two game days is usually ample time to defeat an elemental and since there are point&click trees now, finding out the required info needed to defeat them is usually not difficult.
Theoretically, it IS possible to get into dead ends, but it requires concious effort to do so. Accidental dead ends like KQ5 had in abundance won't be in QFG2. (the original didn't really have them to begin with)
And yeah, the game's release is very close. Once the site is finished, we'll be able to finally toss it up for the masses to experience.
