Thanks to a friend and colleague who is an electronics engineer, I now know that the DA-converter on my Roland SCC-1 soundcard is defective. The card was working when I got it a few weeks ago, but apparently I was not careful enough when cleaning it. I think ESD killed the DAC, so there is no sound coming from the card anymore. Further testing revealed that the rest of the card is still in working order however.
In order to fix the card, I need a new DAC. The part number for the DA-converter is NEC uPD6376. If anyone knows of a (reliable) source where I might obtain one, please let me know. Any help is appreciated.

We actually found a source selling the right part, but it would cost US$75 !

Do you have any idea if they will ship it to Europe?
Shouldn't be necessary. If you call your local Roland office, and provide them with that part number, they should be able to get it for you. (If they don't already have it in stock, they'll order it from Japan.) |

Thanks. I got a reply from Roland Central Europe and I ordered the part. With a little luck it will be a week before it arrives (from Japan).  |

Just received another mail from my contact at Roland. Turns out I need part# 15199905. He ordered that as well, so I have the choice which part I really want. It will be that last one, because it is the UPD6376GS.
Now I am wondering what part# 15289702 is...

Purportedly, it's the same part. I'd asked Roland US to verify that it was, in fact, the UPD6376, but was told they couldn't (dubious). It sounds like your European contact couldn't either? |

Actually, I sent two e-mails requesting the part. The first e-mail just described the part I needed (before you gave me the partnumber).
Apparently, the Technical Department forwarded this first e-mail to my contact at Roland CE at a later time, telling him that this part (the UPD6376) had a different part number. He decided to order both parts from Japan (which may both be the same thing) and he will let me choose which one I want.
Strange. But as long as I get my UPD6376, I will be happy.
