As I recall, this site used to run phpBB...

Well, yesterday, phpBB.com got hacked within hours of someone posting an exploit in their forum software.  Hackers also attacked other phpBB sites, and I know of one site using Joomla and phpBB where both were attacked by the same punks.

So, I just wanted to say... good job not being on phpBB.   Wink

Heard that too. It sucks. Even if it were phpBB though, I don't think this website would be very high on their to-hack list. Smiley

unfortunately, you'd be surprised what those <expletive>s will go after if they have an exploit.  They do it just to make trouble with normal people trying to do their thing.

the only thing i can think is Karma is a bi**h and they'll get their comeuppance eventually.  dirty punks

A friend has explained to me that the real problem wasn't in phpBB itself, but something it depends upon, something called PHPList.  I'm not certain if SMF also uses PHPList... all I know is, if you've got it, make sure it's up-to-date.

I just updated this forum a few days ago...everything seems to be working properly.  I'm here now to make a current manual backup of the database.
