Hi all...  At the moment I am trying to play some QS Soundtrack MIDI files to my synth in DOSBox on my mac.. It seems that the midi files are too large or something because they don't play with any of the player's I've tried.  This leads me to believe there is a dosbox setting for memory that I am missing somewhere, but I can't seem to find anything.  I have EMS,XMS,UMB enabled and have dosbox set at a crazy 64mb.  I've tried low memory settings as well...

Has anyone run into this problem in dosbox?  Playing large midi files, like the SQ4/5/6,KQ5 soundtrack midis?  single songs play just fine..

For reference I have tried playing the songs using 'playmid' 'gsplay' and 'midier'.

If anyone can shed some light on this it is greatly appreciated. Smiley

PS:  If anyone knows of a freeware midi player for OSX that supports sending SYSEX that solves my problem as well.. Though not in quite as cool of a way.  Wink  All I've found are these pay-for overly complex midi players for OSX.  How you can't just play a midi file right out of the OS like in windows is crazy IMO..  Even crazier that so many people think these Macs are better for composing music..  ROFL

I don't remember if the MT-32 utilities section of this website has anything for Mac users. I assume you already checked. In any case there must be something out there for you.

I have not tried this myself but how about using Windows 3.1 with Cakewalk 3.0 under DOSBox? I don't know if it can be done but I think it's worth the try.
