Thought this was mildly interesting. Ad Lib's early practice of trying to disguise the YM3012 by grinding out the markings is pretty well known, but apparently Creative did something similar with the earliest SB16s...



This particular card was manufactured during the last week of October, 1992. Both the "DSP" and CODEC chips in the photo were ground/sanded, and covered by Creative's own identification stickers. Creative continued to cover the CODEC for some time (albeit, without the sanding), but the disguising of the "DSP" chip is a bit baffling, since this type of 8051-variant MCU is also used on the SB2.0 and SBPro/Pro2 cards.
