How does the SC-55 MKII module compare with the SCC-1A card in terms of quality and compatibility? Are they the same?

My SC-55 MKII should arrive from Japan pretty soon. I'm fairly sure that the SCC-1 card I had in the mid-90's was an SCC-1A. I mean I think it had more sounds than the SC-55/CM-300 modules I have at home now.

There might be differences in the quality of the DACs and such, but they are basically the same. Roland just offered different "casings" (stand-alone module, soundcard) of the same synthesizer. Just like the SC-55 and the CM-300 contain the same synthesizer, but in different casings.

The external unit has a LCD display and also a line input which can be handy.

The Roland SC-55 MKII has 28 note polyphony as well as an 18bit DAC.
AFAIK, the SCC-1A has the usual 24 note polyphony like the regular SC-55 and has a 16bit DAC.

Both have 354 patches.
