Holy goodness. And they're making a new game. Not Space Quest, but a sci-fi adventure with the same style of comedy. I'm so flabbergasted!

Gotta love those matching "To Georgia" (2GA) belt buckles. Not sure if anyone else noticed, but a few days ago, they had sweet "Tandy Graphics" (TGA) ones instead. Wink

So will this new game be a Space Quest game? Don't think Vivendi would let that happen. Those b*...witches!

(trying very hard to coin a phrase from the series lol)

No, it's not going to be Space Quest, as I mentioned in the first post. It's called SpaceVenture right now. And will be sci-fi and comedy. But it's not Roger Wilco.

Also, Vivendi can't stop anything from happening with Space Quest. ActiVision owns it.

Ha ha ha. The sad part is that the possibility of your question being taken seriously around these parts is actually pretty high! LOL

(I would settle for plain vanilla GM...  Tongue Tongue Tongue )

A couple days ago the first podcast from the Guys from Andromeda released! Mark and Scott speak!

http://guysfromandromeda.com/podcast-episode-1-the-two-guys-speak/

Here's a quote from pcj at the Janitorial Times (which has lit up considerably since the news broke) about the highlights of the podcast:

Quote from: pcj
Highlights ("live-blogging" this):
  • Chris Pope is on the Guys from Andromeda team, sort of the fan liaison and web guy
  • Boxers or briefs? Mark - Thermoweave, Scott - almost commando time
  • Where have the Two Guys been? Mark's lately been working at Pipeworks, Scott's been trying to find himself, take care of his mother. Both now working at "Guys from Andromeda", Mark has officially left Pipeworks (with good feelings on both sides)
  • Discussion of how they met Chris, and his attempts to get them back together. (But they got back together before he had much progress)
  • Mark and Scott came up with the majority of the content on their site
  • The new game is entirely an original story, though in the spirit of Space Quest (since it's their humor).
  • They may look at pursuing more Space Quest down the road.
  • A lot of fan involvement in what goes into the new game (part of Chris's job)
  • Gary Owens is the narrator
  • Glanz Handerson is Justin Martin, a voice talent in the DFW area
  • They're targeting a mix of new/old talent
  • Funding - they will be indeed doing a Kickstarter
  • Building a game close to what everyone loves, they want creative control
  • They know there are a lot of Kickstarter projects out there, so they're not going to start it yet, pending fan feedback
  • Lots of contests down the road, weekly updates, interviews
  • Chris is the main go-to contact (to make sure things get done)
  • Feel free to contribute ideas, questions, etc for the podcast (nothing copyrighted)
  • The Slash Vohaul story was supposed to be in-game (more), but didn't pan out

They also talk about how they mended their fences and resolved some issues. Fantastic listen!

Second podcast up. Not as much info this time. But he talked more about the Minecraft server and revealed that the 2 Guys are working on some kind of surprise thing very soon.

Also, the new intro theme was composed by yours truly. Cheesy

Third podcast has gone live. Ken Allen is interviewed! He also revealed on the Janitorial Times that he had composed and completed an entire score for Space Quest 5 but by that time he was not working in-house at Sierra anymore and wanted to get in-house composers to do the soundtrack so Ken made the executive decision to change composers.

http://guysfromandromeda.com/podcast-episode-3-guest-host-ken-allen/

Also, the SpaceVenture kickstarter is live! Fund it!

Some fans from SpaceQuest.Net got together and in 3 days put together a little one-room adventure game called Pledge Quest to raise awareness and promote funding 2GFA's SpaceVenture. It's a fun little game made out of love and a desire to see SpaceVenture succeed on Kickstarter! Play it! Have some fun! Credits music by yours truly as well. Smiley

Pledge Quest!
Pledge Quest! (Linux)

An article about it on Gaming Blend: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Pledge-Quest-Game-Released-Support-Space-Quest-Kickstarter-43322.html

SpaceVenture is now over 70% funded, but it still has a little ways to go! With only 5 days left, this is our final chance to get this thing funded and made the way the Two Guys have always wanted to! Go! Fund! Enjoy!

I pledged 150$ for the project, but sadly, it doesn't seem like they're going to make it.

Isn't it possible to get a few more days? or lower the target goal a bit?

It would be really sad if they didn't make it. Sad

I don't know. I've witnessed the KS within the last few hours jump by almost $9000! Also, the original acrylic poster-sized painting of the SQ4 box cover art is on sale on eBay right now for the next couple days and 90% of the money is going to SpaceVenture as well. The current bid is already above $1000!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemNext&item=190688752212&autorefresh=true#ht_1234wt_1139

There's also the last couple day KS surge that it will probably get. We just might make it. Maybe. There's always hope. We're just about at 80% now. There's still a chance.

$33,168 left now!

The Gary Owens interview was fantastic, by the way. Great stuff. He's a very nice guy. Had some cool stories to share.

The SQ4 poster, by the way, raised somewhere around $2.6k!

Legit! For people who pledge at least $30 their names will be entered into a draw with a chance to win one of 3 vintage Sierra games! Even if you don't want them, these classics go for quite a pretty penny on eBay! Up your pledges! $25k and 26 hours to go!

EDIT: Two new tier levels!

PLEDGE $5 OR MORE - 5 Pack of HD Wallpapers made by Mark Crowe

PLEDGE $25 OR MORE - Printable PDF Foldout "ROOTER" designed by Mark + 10 HD Wallpapers + SpaceQuest.net forum Badge of Honor + Special Thanks mention on our website (will remain there for the life of the website)

That's great! I really wasn't very optimistic towards the end. Smiley
