It's not been released for the MT-32 on this site either.. what's your point? It wasn't anything special, was it?

But on the note of KQ5, I was going to play with that score.. get back to you.

KQ5 had alotta good music, better than KQ6 IMHO (with the exception of GITT being one of the best love songs on a video game yet)

No way.. KQ6's score is WAY better. Listened to the digital CD from QuestStudios over the last two days and was just so caught up in it..
KQ5 was a much worse game which also loses my passion for it. Though I still love the score. Don't get me started on the voice acting for the CD, though. Smiley

On another note, I've obtained permission from Tom to convert the original Roland MT-32 score for KQ5 to General MIDI for this site, so.. I will. Smiley
But be warned; there's a LOT of sound effects in this game. Like a 'dog' in the Town, and I hate to think what else in tracks like the Dark Forest. So two (or in fact three) possibilities could eventuate:
1. The General MIDI soundtrack will be missing various instruments (case in point; see Tom's conversion of the Town on the KQ5 MIDI page)
2. I'll just go with a Roland Sound Canvas (SC-55) GS score, and for soundcard users you'd need a soundfont with GS maps (pretty easy to find)
3. Both 1 and 2. The two soundtrack MIDI's would be pretty similar, but the GS one'd be fuller and have more appropriate conversions.

By the way, Galahad- got your Yahoo details (courtesy of you), so let me know what times you're on (EST, GMT, whatever).

Regards,
- Alistair

P.S. For the guy who was asking about the Yeti Cave for GM, here:
http://smc.sq7.org/miscfile/YETICAVE.MID
(Don't expect it to be anything special, it's Seibert's straight MT-32->GM conversion so it won't loop; nor will it likely be properly converted. Wait for my KQ5GM.MID effort. Smiley )

I thoguht it was... song 29 in Tom's large MT-32 soundtrack is identified as "The Yeti." Or is he thinking of a different song?

I wasn't counting the complete soundtrack; if it was released for GM then it would be as an individual file, with Rakeesh's point being therefore:
"Why hasn't the Yeti Cave been released for General MIDI, since there's a MT-32 version on the site?"
Which makes your point valid, I suppose.

Whether or not it is in fact under the Yeti track in the complete soundtrack or not I can't answer. Last time I listened to KQ5MT.MID was when I first got my Roland MT-32.. Yikes, almost 2 years ago. (One of the reasons I want to play with the MIDI score).

The guy's not thinking of a different song; but it may not be in the MIDI. He probably doesn't own a MT-32 anyway.. I'll check it out. If for whatever reason it's not in Tom's score, I'll add it (as I would with any missing track I notice to be absent, and still relevant and deserving of being in the MIDI).

Prince Galahad, I'll plan on posting individual digital, MT-32, and GM versions of The Fairy Ring, Harpie Island, and The Yetti this coming weekend.

What kind of sound card do you use?

============
 E D I T
===================

Sorry Galahad, but after examining these songs, "The Yetti" theme and "Fairy Ring", I decided not to post them as they're only two measure loops.  I think Including them in the Complete Soundtracks versions is about all I'm going to do with them.  I haven't decided yet on the Harpie Island theme...but I'll probably end up posting the GM version of this.

and what do you mean by two measure loops? if they are short isnt it possible to make them longer?

Well; Fairy Ring really isn't a 2 measure loop, especially not if you include the 3 themes that could play in the ring..

And 'Yeti' must be 10 measures at the very least..
(Brings back memories of Tom talking about 'Dragon's Flight'.)

Not that I blame Tom, of course, they're not really worthy. But maybe a complete 'Fairy Ring' track or 'Cave/The Yeti' might be a bit longer and therefore a bit more worthy. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, and possibly include the part for the Fairy Ring where you, "Ingest a few mushrooms"?

Where did all the nice paisley horses go?

I guess it depends on the time signature you're using.

My point is, I don't typically post very short themes that last only a few measures -- like the Yetti theme.  Though, it IS only four, 4/4 measures that repeat over and over.  The Fairy Ring does go a bit longer, but it's already posted in the complete QFG1 soundtrack.  The song and its variations uses only Fantasy and Clarinet, so it should play well on just about any sound card...thus making a digital version unnecessary.

Oh, I don't blame you. Smiley Didn't realise that one (Yeti) is only 4 measures. And my time is same as yours, 4/4 always.

By the way, the third 'Fairy Ring' track is NOT a Fantasy/Clarinet piece.. it uses a drumkit, synth bass and fantasy, if I remember correctly.

hmm, if i remember correctly there was 2 tracks in the qfg1 soundtrack midi file that dealt with the fairy ring

EDIT: just listened to the GM soundtrack of qfg1, and i was thinking.... mabbe you could take track 11 and 12 and put them together since they are both semi-short
